squeak: I disagree with your claim that if democracy wants to be xenophobic, it can be. I mean, it is true. But a core principle of American democracy is to “prevent the tyranny of the many over the few” in addition to the “tyranny of the few over the many”. That’s kinda the impetus behind the first Amendment. Our government system is meant to protect minorities from a xenophobic majority. Electing Trump would be a step towards a massive failure on that front.
