I am not a Rov.
I do have the Peanut trimmer. It uses a scissor action to cut and the blades are not close to the face. It also does not cut nearly as close as a shaver. If you have a thick or heavy beard you will definitely look like you have a day’s growth after using the trimmer.
I also have heard from a Rov that his boys use this because they don’t want to use a shaver for halachic reasons.
