The truth is that there is no explicit issur, even derabbanan, for either umbrellas or bicycles if you are in an eruv (or if it is Yom Tov). I challenge anyone to prove otherwise, stating which deoraita or derabbanan is violated. It is just that in most communities we don’t use either. That isn’t a problem, either; we just should be honest about things.
