Poilisher Rebbes before WW2 had a saying. Chazal say, Its better to walk in bck of a lion rather than in back of a woman. The rebbes interpreted it as such: Its better to do teshuva during the month of Av whose symbol is Ari, lion; and not to wait until Elul whose symbol is Besula, woman.
