Could be something to that. I noticed my hair thinned a lot when I got married and covered it full time. Not a reason to stop doing so, but it’s certainly an interesting possibility that the hats could be a factor. Also, Yeshivah boys eat notoriously poor diets. It probably is a combination of factors, plus heredity.
