My wife and daughters do not wait a year for anything specific, but might need a minor appliance like a crock pot or blender and wait for Black Friday instead of buying it 2 or 3 weeks ago.
They do go to certain malls and have found good deals on clothes and other accessories (such as shoes). Some items that they purchased last year were discounted between 80% – 90% off ticketed price.
