For example, I remember telling a boy on a first or second date that his reference had said really nice things about him. That is the type of thing that anyone would be happy to hear. In general, an appropriate compliment can go a long way to building a connection.
Another way to give is by doing something thoughtful for the person. Think about something she might want you to do for or say to her.
