The President of the United States can fire the Director of the FBI for any or no reason at all. The Director legally serves at the pleasure of the President.
Since he no longer pleasured the President, he was correctly fired.
“What do you think Trump’s real motivations were in firing him?”
He was a loose cannon who unpredictably did what he wanted. President Trump is also like that. But Pres. Trump doesn’t like anyone like that to work for him.
