Joseph , i believe you are mistaken about pre war europe. Remember, millions of Jews jad already spent decades in the Soviet Union and many were no longer frum. Also, keep in mind that more and more young Jews had left the shtetls in the 1930s for Warsaw andother metropolitan areas.
