I think jail is overkill. Was this terrible? yes. Is this person a pile of garbage for making a kid cry? yes. But it isn’t child abuse, and being a bad person doesn’t mean you need jail time. I think a sincere apology and some sensitivity training or something like that would be a lot more productive.
