Not all shuls have talleisin to borrow. And, Joseph asked about a case where it’s not your community, which would create a problem with a brachah on the tallis.
Unless you have a source, I think you heard incorrectly, laskern. I’m not trying to argue, but it’s just clearly not a chashash that anyone has. People wear a tallis to shul all the time completely independently of how they hold of the eruv; it’s a kabalistic inyan or some such thing.
