When I was a kid (my parents were away) I made Havdolah on whisky and, obviously, dipped the candle afterwards … I nearly set the house on fire! Never again!
I’m told that my grandparents (who I never knew) had a shtarke minhag to light their first post-Shabbos cigarette from the Havdolah candle.
