There needs to be aggressive enforcement of no parking rules for school buses on residential streets, including towing and severe fines for chronic violators. Yes, it will mean that the school bus companies/schools will have to pay for the drivers to get up earlier and work longer hours to pick up/return buses from/to approved commercial parking lots and depots but from what we read here frequently, the illegal parking situation on local streets has gotten out of control. The alternative is to eliminate school buses entirely and leave it up to the parents to get their kids to and from school like they do in some other cities, but that could be even more burdensome to some families lacking their own vehicles.
