I asked that question weeks ago and got the answer about availability. It took away from the event that it wasn’t really a siyum for everyone, though people did make a seudas mitzvah on Shabbos for the REAL siyum. While I can understand the logistics involved, and why they settled on Jan. 1, since when do yidden do things out of convenience? And how much rushing of the end of niddah had to be done to make the Hadaran? It couldn’t have been real Daf Yomi, could it?
