CTL, you are a literalist? Do you believe that “an eye for an eye” means lex talionis? What about Common Law terms such as “effective” and “constructive” (I had a professor who called them “weasel words”). BTW, Aharon Barak ruled that a contract should be interpreted according to its “soul” (= what he considered to be its goal). This caused a great stir and apparently it has been overruled.
