Alyosha, Many misdemeanors can and do carry imprisonment. And the convict, even of misdemeanors, cannot cry to the judge “Oy, I have children, so you can’t jail me.” Otherwise anyone with children would be free to commit any crimes that carry jail sentences (including misdemeanors) without being concerned about going to jail.
