To the best of my knowledge mesivta gemorahs have rashi printed in it!! ? I don’t understand what the problem is. Why does the fact that there is an explanation on the other side of the page mean that you shouldn’t learn rashi. Seem like your friend had a bad influence on you! Everyone has got to decide what they have time to learn! Point is to have a kvius in limud torah.
