The dorms have not all re opened.
They sufferred early and continued precautions for months until things seemed to cool down. Those at risk continue to be cautious, but the others have put much of it behind them, just as we too will when we have moved as far forward on our own timelines.
Although people are out and seemingly carefree, to judgemental onlookers, many have been deprived of hugs from their grandparents for more than half a year as they really are well aware of which precautions are still necessary. I don’t know if they’re right or wrong, but it needs to stop being presented as negligence.
We must be careful not to fall into the timeline trap while using our binoculars. It is analogous to making a phone call at noon on tisha bav to a friend in israel and being appalled that they are eating when you know the fast is still far from over.
