Sorry to burst your bubble, R’ Kanievsly is considered to be Gadol Hador by tiny fraction of Ashkenazim, namely charedim of Lutvish descent. There are so many different Ashkenazim. The idea of Gadol Hador itself is very questionable, and has no source in Jewish tradition.
