nOm: I agree overall with what you’re saying but there is an inyan to be Gores the Zohar even if you do not understand a word.

ujm: A Yeshiva or a Kollel is better off with a Talmid who spends 2 hours a day seriously learning, but he fully understands inside out 5 Blatts every 2 hours (without the schmoozing). Such a person exists.
