Sir, for whatever its worth, I agree with your question. You are right. I think we should NOT rely on Hashem. And why should we? Did He promise to keep you safe where you live? Perhaps He is trying to signal you to get out? Perhaps He is warning you of danger? To “rely on Hashem” in this case, and not taking action, means ignoring His message to us. That’s very fine bitachon indeed!
