The gemarah in Kiddushin says that Hashem gives a rasha good things in this world, so that when he dies, he wont be deserving of any reward for any good that he has done- bec. he has already been repaid. On the other hand, He gives affliction to a tzaddik in this world to be mechaper for any Aveiros, so when he dies, he will receive only rewards in Olam Habah. Keep in mind-Olam Hazeh Domeh Leprozdor. This world is only a means with wich to prepare ourselves for our eternal life- in Olam Habah. Yissurim can therefore be viewed in a better light, as a temporary discomfort paving the way for a permanent eternal reward.
