asdfghjkl – im sorry you had such bad experiences.
however, in general, camp is a very fulfilling and growth-filled time for a child, a place to bring out qualities they might not use during the year at school, not to mention make new friends from places outside their daled amos.
that said, much csre needs to be taken that the camp is the right one for the child. much harm can come, both spiritually and emotionally, if its not. just bec. “rivky” or “chaim” go, doesn’t mean your child should, too.

ps if you don’t live in NY, some Catskills camps may make it hard for your child to fit in. try an out of town (i hate that phrase…) one instead.
