I think that any person who gives of himself or herself by working on the Chevra Kadisha, has earned a special place in Olam Haba. It is one of the hardest things to do, and the last kovod we can show someone before kevura. It is especially difficult when the tahara involves a young person or chalilah a baby. What strength such a person must have to be mekayeim this mitzvah. I truly applaud Nobody and anyone else who is moser nefesh to do this. Hashem will surely bless you and your loved ones in this zechus, and may you never need this chessed before Moshiach comes.
The cutting nail issue, as well as others mentioned, seem to have kabbalistic overtones, within the halacha. I was told if you do not remove the root end of the onion, you MAY leave it over. I never heard such stuff about hardboiled eggs. I wonder how much of this is halacha and how much is a minhag that many accept as halacha.
Nail cutting is a particularly strange inyan, because HASHEM makes the nails grow, so if it were a problem He could allow them NOT to grow on Shabbos. Clearly it is His action, not ours.
