The shadchan is a fool to say loshon hara about your friends, especially if she does not know them. And the mother of the boy is a fool if the only reason she didn’t want to hear about you from the shadchan was because your overeager friends were trying too hard. Everyone acted foolishly. I would personally not discuss things with friends before I was going out with someone, except if I knew that they knew the boy and could tell me pertinent information about him, his family, etc. But don’t be upset because you did.
