SJS: In your hypothetical, and the mother wasn’t well and abused her child, clearly the child and the mother should be separated. That does not mean a Jewish mother should be imprisoned prior to a just determination. The protests here are against the imprisonment of a Jewish mother, rather than against separation. (With the allegations hurled against her not credible itself.)
