“Posing” for a photograph is almost the same thing as altering it later. Neither is the natural setting and thus the emes.

Who said that!? Photographs are not some kind of pure “EMES” Far from it. Unless you are an expert at color profiling and management, the colors in a photo will certainly not be Emes. Whatever the crop, the photo will be out of context. That is not Emes. The lens, depending on circumstances will introduce some degree of distortion in most cases, elongating noses, increasing or decreasing someones girth, etc. Not Emes. Chromatic abberation, not Emes. Horizon misalignment, not Emes. People being aware they are being photographed, not Emes. The lack of other sensory perceptions such as sound which could markedly alter one’s interpretation of a photo, not Emes. The stagnation of shadows and highlights, as opposed to the normal fluidity of motion, thus often exaggerating imperfections in a face, not Emes.
