postsemgirl, I think it’s all right to ask. When you do, present your case as to why you think you should be paid more: how your salary compares to the salaries of other teachers in the school, good results you achieved (improved student scores or other applicable metrics), positive evaluations, extra contributions you’ve made, etc. If your boss says you need to improve more to earn a raise, ask if you can discuss it again in a few months.
