I agree with Mayan Dvash. People actually give more based on the dinner. If the yeshivas could figure out a way to avoid the $200 per couple overhead for the dinners, I’m sure they would have done it. but it’s difficult. People expect opulence. You can get a better glimpse of the yeshiva’s values by seeing how the roshei yeshiva live. Do they live in opulence, or in litvish simplicity?
