Ben Levi, beautiful post. Everything that happens is a message, to remind us that Hashem runs the world, and we are capable of being punished through nature even today. This is not to say that the people of haiti were guilty, any more than the hundreds of thousands who perished in the tsunami were guilty. The ones who are guilty are us, the observant Jews who should know better than our current behavior.
