At the school where I used to teach, the girls were allowed to bring cell phones to school, but they weren’t allowed to have them in class. When they came in they had to leave their phones in the office. They could use their phones in the office when they weren’t in class, and they could take them at lunch time. If any girl was caught with a cell phone in class, it would have been confiscated. I don’t know if any girl ever had one in class. The policy really seemed to work.
