heres the psak i got regarding worms, bugs and the like. if you wash the item, youre good.
if it’s frozen youre good. (obviously if its already been checked once)
if its cooked youre good. (obviously if its already been washed and whatever…)
the reason being that ordinarily you’d only really be chayav if you eat a k’zayis of non kosher stuff…however by bugs, since its a full creature even eating one miniscule bug makes you chayav. however, if its frozen, the eyes pop thus disqualifying it as a full creature. if its cooked, similarly certain of its body parts fall off, thus disqualifying it as a whole creature. so…enjoy your frozen and cooked creepy crawlies :D:D:D
