That’s really tough for her, moish. It’s not easy to pick up and move at this stage in the game, (I’m assuming she’s around 16, too.) The best thing to do is to listen and sympathize. You can also be supportive and encouraging, NOT by saying things like, “It’s gonna be awesome!” or, “You’ll love it there!” I have found that the best way to give someone the strength to rise to a challenge is by reminding the person about another time that they did have a lot of strength and did ___________, and then saying something along the lines of, “and I believe that you have the strength in you to tackle this challenge like that time.” Maybe then you can ask her which aspect of living in Israel she thinks she might be able to like and building from there. It’s a really big, hard challenge that we can’t even begin to understand when we’re standing with two feet solidly planted on US soil. Tell her the CR wishes her lots of success and strength in dealing with it!
