kapusta, now for our final lesson:
Lesson 4
Part 1
In part number one, you are being tested on your listening comprehension. A teacher reads a given passage that you are expected to write notes on. Based on the passage, you are supposed to complete the required task. For part number one, you are in luck! Because of the widespread use of texting, there are so many more known word shortcuts. Like, gr8, w/d, s/d/, w/nt, sh/nt. So at least when it comes to writing the notes, you’re pretty much covered. The issue is understanding what is being read to you. What some people do, is listen the first time the passage is read and write it up the second time around. If you do that, you might get stuck missing some information and not being able to fill it in. I think it is much more advisable to write down as much as you can the first time around so you get the basic jist of it and then, listen the second time around and fill it whatever you didn’t get down the first time. Then you reread your task and complete your essay.
chazak, chazak, kapusta! I wish you much hatzlacha on your regent, and hope it all goes well.
btw, these 4 lessons are all (basically) from memory (I did peak into a regent book just to make sure I got the parts right). I do not teach twelfth grade English (thank g-d!).
Now go take another well deserved break!
