I am Oomis, and I am definitely a lady, and a terrific (not merely great)Bubby, in my humble (gotta be honest) opinion. I am a middle-aged woman, just in the grandparent parsha, no older YET. And yes, I realize that people just have to move, in order to dance. I dance myself. But the way that some of these young ladies (and they are even chassidic) do it, it really is surprising that they would have learned to shake themselves in such a disco kind of way. I have seen, not Bais Yaakov productions, but from the girls’ yeshivas in my own neighborhood, and frankly (and I am NO prude by any means, as those who know me will attest), I think it is unbecoming for the girls to dance that way even in front of other females. They are shaking parts of them that should not be shaken, and this is simply not in the spirit of Yiddishkeit, from what I see. Certainly it is not Yeshivedig for schools that purport to impart a certain hashkafa. Just My Opinion, folks. Now this old fuddy duddy is going back to her rocking chair and taking a nap…
