I remember that hurricane, though I thought it was moer like 20-25 years ago. It was erev yom tov, and we raced home from my parents (where we were staying for succos) during the eye of the hurricane when it was sunny and pleasant, to tape our windows. My dad O”H put their wooden succah together, and it stayed up beautifully. The rain and wind did no damage at all.
