I am so glad i can help you solve this issue. I just got my Electrolux IQ touch from Sears after much research and deliberation. I am so obesesed with this machine, i have washed everything in my house. MY biggest problem now is that it holds so much laundry in one load (I’m talking motzai the nine days in the bungalow colony big!) that I only need to do one load of laundry a week. My poor machine is sad and lonely all the other days!!! (we are four at home now, and most of my stuff is hand wash) any way. heres the deal with the front loaders. ELectrolux was the only company that owners did not complain about the mold smell. I will tell you this, when the wash is done, the door and gasket are WET (think laudromat) YOU MUST KEEP THE DOOR OPEN OR AJAR between washes. So if you have a toddler roaming about and this is a concern for you, dont get a front loader. Also the dispenser can get gunky and slimy (again think laudromat) and that too is wet after use so leave it open too. those are the only annoyances i can see. THis thing holds tons more than your old maytag with an agitator. It is so gentle on the clothes. but…The spin is litrerally like a jet engine, so always choose low spin unless its towels or blankets. The machine is so quiet and easy to use and a pleasure to have around. I love watching it work. You can pause the cycle AT ANY TIME to add things. the way the water fills you are always able to open the door. Remember with any front loader you have to buy special HE soap which is expensive but you only use a small amt. I am obsessed with Persil (sorry its German) but I used to use it in Israel and its great for front loaders. for more on that check out my blog at http://www.thebabyessentials.com where I review Persil MegaPerls. I looooovvvvveeee that soap. ALl in all I could not be happier with my purchase. Water usage was also important to me cuz i have septic tank. Now i am using 15-20 gallons instead of 60 Yes all top loaders use up to 60gallons per load even the new ones!! As long as you are willing to keep the door open and buy the special soap you will be thrilled with it. I even put my son’s cotton tzitzis in (dont tell him!) they came out perfect. I put the strings in a wash bag .. the machine is so gentle they werent knotted at all. Oh be sure and spring for the pedestal. Yes it is a waste of money, but its great having the laundry at waist level. otherwise its hard to reach the clothes inside. and yes you need the factory pedestal you cannot just build something yoruserlf cuz this thing spins like a jet plane, it needs to be properly anchored. I love my machine!!
