Msseeker, I don’t think this is the place to go into detail, but you sadly have the facts very wrong. I can’t say how I know this without identifying myself, but as sad as I was to realize this, the story is not at all as you report it. Meeting the mom and seeing a sweet, ill woman is no indication of the truth.
