I think they should replace the barcodes with RFID tags and put it in their wallets. This way you could (1) automatically keep track of when anyone entered or left the bais medrash (cuts down on the slackers) and (2), you could just walk near a fellow to read his tag. No need to squint to read the barcode. Even better yet- with enough RFID readers, you could keep the exact location of anyone in the Bais Hemedrash in an updated database, accessible from a iPhone app. Wow! I think I have an idea for a new business!
