That reminds me of the story with the Rov and the apikores* (an old friend from childhood). The apikores challenged the use of “trop”** in laining***. The Rov asked the apikores to borrow 100 ruble. The apikores obliged. The following week, when the apikores asked for his money, the Rov responded, “I owe you a hundred rubles?”. The apikores reminded the Rov of the previous week’s encounter, to which the Rov responded, again, “I owe you a hundred rubles?”. Now the apikores got really angry, until the Rov explained that he said “I owe you a hundred rubles.”, just with different trop!
