It’s always their word against yours, and 99% of the time the judge (if you fight a ticket) will believe THEM!

A few years ago I got a ticket on Ocean Parkway (a real ticket trap, by the way) for going through a red light. The truth was that it was just turning to yellow as I went through, and was definitely NOT RED.

I fought it in traffic court, and the cop (who clearly had done this a million times before and had a prepared line to say to the judge) said that the light was full red 3 car lengths before I entered the intersection. This made it sound like he was really sure of being in the right. Actually this was a TOTAL LIE.

Nevertheless I was found guilty. Afterwards I saw the cop outside the courtroom and I went over and asked him point blank “How could you say say something like that which was completely untrue?!?”

He just smirked and shrugged his shoulders as if to say “Tough Luck!”
