I just found this on the OU website:
Do oreo cookies contain any dairy ingredients?
At this time, the Original Oreo sandwich cookie and Double Stuf sandwich cookie (and ONLY those products) do not directly contain dairy ingredients but are manufactured on dairy equipment. Please bear in mind, however, that the very nature of the OU-D certification denotes that we do not assume any responsibility for the cleanup or for any leftover traces of dairy on the machinery.This is one reason that the OU does not utilize a D.E. designation.
Please also bear in mind that Nabisco has the legal right to switch the formula to dairy at any time of their choosing, for which the OU also assumes no responsibility. You should periodically check with O.U. and not rely on the ingredient panel on the label.
Since I don’t eat dairy equipment I guess I still can’t have them. Oh well. You sure did get my hopes up though 🙂
