Bi-Polar as explained in the book is not necessarily how it is in real life. While it can be that way, it can also be alot worse. In both the manic and depressive stages of bipolar a victim can suffer from psychosis, a loss of contact with reality. They can also become suicidal. So for anyone who thinks the book was scary it could have been a lot scarier.
