A good idea is to run the conversation about the other person. It makes you come across as interested in them, and gives them what to talk about. Also, the more a person speaks of themselve, the common points you’ll find to which you can relate, and continue the conversation from there. Just don’t forcefully stear the conversation any which way for then you are being either secretive or just plain overbearing and domineering.
