Pure coincidence doesn’t exist. Both the earthquake and the hurricane had some purpose. Whether that purpose was to continue the natural order of things, teach one individual somewhere a lesson, or do something for all of K’lal Yisroel we will never know. It happens for a reason. Many times we just have no way of finding out for sure what that reason is.
