I can never forget that day.. the first I heard about it was that someone told me the Empire State Bldg was hit by a plane.. the story then changed to the Twin Towers, and then it became 2 planes. That’s when I got so scared because my older sis worked in the WTC, in Tower 4. I called my mother and we were just crying on the phone together because we couldn’t reach her because the cell towers weren’t working and didn’t know if she was alive or not.

Later, we heard from her what had happened.. When the first plane hit, no one knew what was going on, everyone just thought it was an accident, and they were all told to stay where they were. She decided to leave the building, but when she got out, realized that she had left her pocketbook inside. Since there was mass confusion, she managed to get back into the building without anyone stopping her and got her pocketbook. Somewhere during this time, the 2nd building was hit and there was pandemonium, everyone just running out. She followed where everyone else was going and walked over the Brooklyn Bridge with the masses of people. On the other side, there was a store about to close but she begged the owner just to let her use their phone, which she then used to call my father at work (he worked in downtown Bklyn). My father then called us and we then found out that she was OK.

I can never forget that day; those terrible images will be etched in my mind forever.
