If you have ever learned to type, trying to use another keyboard would be foolish. Anyone who knows how to type can type without even looking at the keyboard. To try a different layout would be totally inefficient. The qwerty keyboard is laid out according to the dexterity of the hand and fingers and according to which keys are used most often. Vowels are the easiest to reach and the consonants that are used the most are also within the easiest and most comfortable reach.
