Rav Tzaddok is known for talking about “averah lishmah” and he seems to approve of the concept, which makes him a favorite of some Zalman Schachter (oisvorf former Lubavitcher Schechter, not JTS Schechter) but a closer reading (a rebbi who knows machshava helps) shows that he’s really talking about how even averos are holy when they lead to teshuva and similar concepts.
