When I was in high school (back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth), I was kinda in a similar situation. I pretty much stayed out of the social scene, thinking all the girls were flighty and obnoxious, and stuck to my little, loose group of friends. Now that I look back, I don’t think what I did was so mature. :/ But I feel what you are saying.
My advice – you don’t have to be friends with EVERYBODY. Nor do you have to hate them. If you have some people to hang out/study with, it’s enough. Just be civil to the rest, and they may even turn out decent.
And as for close friends – I have more of them from my year of seminary than all previous twelve combined. 😉
