Then why is it forbidden to make a chillul Hashem in front of other jews, and it’s even worse than in front of a a non jew? It can turn them off.
And what about all the non-jews and the non-frum who are doubtlessly looking at what we frum jews have to say about it? What kind of message are we portraying to them? That someone does something like this (takes off his beard…), and suddenly he’s not one of us anymore?
And part of being a practicing jew is to watch the words we say.
